Acupressure is an ancient natural remedy that dates back thousands of years. Similar to acupuncture (but without the needles), acupressure uses light pressure on certain points of the body to stimulate energy flow, reduce inflammation, address pain, and support healing. Acupressure is also an effective form of stimulation used to relax certain muscles.
If you are a fan of acupressure, we recommend trying it with Jordan Essentials Magnesium Stick! The combination of the healing art of acupressure with the botanicals and elements found in the “Mag Stick” (as we like to lovingly call it) creates a powerful blend of muscle and nerve stimulation that may support the natural healing process. Jordan Essentials Magnesium Sticks come in Unscented, Peace, and the popular Magnesium Plus which has been enhanced with peppermint, sweet basil, lavender, and frankincense! This month (November 2018), you can also get the Magnesium Stick infused with our Resistance Essential Oil Blend!
Jordan Essentials Magnesium Sticks, on their own, offer the benefits of topical magnesium in the convenience of a lotion stick. To combine acupressure with the JE Mag Stick, simply gently press the open end of the JE Mag Stick onto your favorite pressure points throughout the body and hold light pressure for one to three minutes. You should never experience pain while applying pressure with the JE Mag Stick to an acupoint. Should you experience discomfort, try a lighter touch or move to a different area. The body has hundreds of acupoints, all of which are associated with one or more body function. Here are a few popular points to get you started:
GB20: This point is found by feeling along the mastoid (ear) bone and following the groove back to where the neck muscles attach to the skull. This point is typically associated with alleviating symptoms of migraines, headaches, fatigue, and eye blurriness.
GB21: This point is found on top of the shoulder between the base of the neck and the point of the shoulder. Many women carry tension in this area. Massage gently with the JE Mag Stick in small circular motions with light pressure to alleviate symptoms of stress, facial pain, toothaches, neck pain, and headaches. Follow up by massaging in a small amount of Helio Skin Superfood Lotion. Use caution with this acupoint if you are pregnant.
ST36: This point is found four fingers width down from the bottom of the kneecap to the outside of the shin bone. Stimulation of this area with the JE Mag Stick may help with stomach discomfort, nausea, stress, and fatigue.
MHN3: This point is found between the eyebrows just above the bridge of the nose. Use the JE Mag Stick here to help with stress, nasal congestion, sinus issues, and insomnia.
PC6: This point is found about three fingers width down from the wrist in the center of the inner arm between the two tendons. Apply light pressure here with the JE Mag Stick to help with symptoms of nausea, motion sickness, carpal tunnel, vomiting, or headaches.
LI4: This point is found in the fleshy area between the thumb and index finger of either hand. Pressure to this area may help with headaches, neck pain, constipation, and hangovers.
Acupressure is simple and easy to do for yourself or for your loved ones. It is important to keep in mind a few safety tips when doing any form of acupressure. First, some acupoints have been known to induce labor. Use caution and consult a licensed acupressure or acupuncturist before attempting on your own if pregnant. Never apply pressure to areas that have been bruised, injured, or near broken bones. Always use gentle pressure, never abrupt or jabbing stimulation. Breathe deeply and relax while pressure is applied.
Experiment for yourself and experience the amazing benefits from the combination of acupressure and Jordan Essentials Magnesium Stick! Become familiar with the best acupoints that work for you and your situation. Try it first thing in the morning when you start your day, carry a JE Mag Stick with you when you are out and about during the day for those quick treatments as needed, or pamper yourself right before bed to support a good night’s sleep.
